I suppose it's normal for people to feel a little low at this time of year: I have decided not to. Life is short, time seems to have accellerated since I hit 30, and I want to relish the few remaining days off work and grasp the chance to spend time with my family and friends, to ponder what it's all about and generally divulge my random musings.
Also, I really must begin running again. If I want to complete the Cornish grand prix this year, my first qualifying race is a 10 miler on 17th Jan (yeah, like that's gonna happen) I have been attempting to consume my own body weight in mistrels this week; and I'm succeeding :) but I digress...
The motivation to write this blog is because, well, to be perfectly honest, I am aging - grudgingly. Regrettably, I still feel like that insecure, anxious but exhilarated teenage girl I once was; seeking adventure and eager for the future. When did I become middle-aged? How ever did that happen? I have so much left to see.
Travelling inspires me – I love to follow the sunshine. Believing in the magic of childhood; seeing things through untainted and non-cynical eyes. My kids laugh at my overemotional reaction to soppy sunsets and Disney parades – I love to feel overwhelmed by the wonderment of life… is that so bad?
Am I foolish, still getting crushes on celebs (albeit for their intelligence and wit now rather than their looks and tight bum!) Tim Minchin. I came across his humour via a link to youtube, (inflatable you) sought out his other material and have ended up watching So F**ckin Rock and Rock + Roll Nerd almost endlessly since I got them on DVD for chrimbo. I love the ingenuity of his lyrics – they demand my attention; stimulate my thoughts and stop me pondering my self-centred disquiet for a moment.
I get like this. Spending hours thinking about lyrics or the views of someone who has revitalized my emotions. My kids think it’s my age, *smiles* perhaps I’m getting old…
